reading

Homework is set regularly each week by the class teacher. Arrangements regarding the days it will be given out and collected in are updated on the curriculum newsletters, throughout the school year. At Key Stage 2 projects are set linked to the current topic. These projects can take many forms and are spread over several weeks. These projects encourage parents to become involved with their child’s learning.

All children are expected to read daily, preferably with an adult, and this should be recorded in the Home/School Log for Key Stage 1 and the Reading Log for Key Stage 2. Regular reading earns Reading Miles, and at significant milestones these mean prizes!

Spellings and timestables learning are also a weekly expectation. Sometimes children will be given log-in’s to access online activities to practice at home.

When children are absent due to illness they should be resting rather than doing school-work. Reading books can be collected from the class teacher if parents ask. We will not provide work for children who are having unauthorised absence from school during term times.
